Ivan Kende
Instructor, Figure Drawing

Ivan Kende has been drawing since childhood, when a single pencil and notebook—chosen on impulse during his family’s journey to the U.S. as refugees in 1956—set him on a lifelong artistic path. That first sketch, made at age ten, became the foundation of a practice that continues to evolve today.

Over the decades, Ivan’s work has transformed from realism into minimalist, ethereal compositions, and later into imagery inspired by ancient cave paintings and mythic traditions. His current art explores metaphysical themes and primordial textures, created with materials reminiscent of those used by early artists thousands of years ago.

In his Figure Drawing classes at [Studio Name], Ivan shares not only technical skill but also a deep appreciation for drawing as a timeless human practice. His teaching encourages students to observe with care, connect with tradition, and discover their own artistic voice through the act of drawing.
